David G. Marshall

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

David G. Marshall has been a leader in real estate investment, development and management for almost 40 years. Since 1976 when he began to acquire properties on behalf of Bass Brothers Enterprises of Texas, David’s sound investing and real estate acumen have resulted in the acquisition and management of several billion dollars in real estate assets.

David was a Senior Vice President at Colonial Mortgage Service Company prior to his tenure as Managing General Partner of David G. Marshall & Co. (1976–1980).  In 1981, with David as President, David G. Marshall & Co evolved into Bass Brothers Realty Company, which then became Ameribass Realty Company in 1985. In 1987, David acquired Ameribass, renaming the company Amerimar Realty Company—under which he continues to spearhead opportunistic investing across diversified asset classes nationwide. In additional to his leadership of Amerimar Realty Company, David also started and served as Chairman and founding CEO of Amerimar Enterprises, Inc. from 1992 to 2000.

His significant professional accomplishments are furthered by David’s involvement in his local community, and his dedication to cancer research, prevention and treatment. To that end, David was Chairman of the Board of Fox Chase Cancer Center, now part of Temple University Health System, where he also serves on the executive committee and the finance committee.

In addition to his work with Fox Chase, David is the director of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fund and is a member of its executive committee. He is also chairman of the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation and director for the Center City District. Furthermore, David was vice chair of the Federation Allied Jewish Appeal, vice-chairman of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and director of the Curtis Institute of Music, SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management, Friends of Rittenhouse Square, and the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

David is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he chaired the research committee and served on the executive committee of the Real Estate Center. Formerly, he was a director of the Wharton School’s undergraduate executive board.

His awards include the United States Army Commendation Medal, the Eagle Scout Award, and the 2007 Citizen of the Year award from the PENJERDEL Council and the Wharton Club’s Man of the Year award.

Responsible for sourcing, financing and managing new acquisitions throughout northeast Ohio, James’ primary responsibilities include the development of a unique destination hotel in downtown Akron and the redevelopment of the former Firestone Tire world headquarters, a 1.3 million square foot property on South Main Street in Akron.
